the airport had 40 cancellations and 13 diverted flights. kron 4's dan kerman had to deal with delays today. >> reporter: i got caught up in the same delays. when i arrived the monitors indicated my flight was on time but i knew that wasn't true. the monitors finally caught up. i walked down to see if flights were delayed and they were. i checked in at the desk and said is 12 noon the right time, they said that is when we will be checking in. basically i found the monitors were wrong most of the day and the only way to get accurate information was to speak with someone behind the desk. we arrived here at 2:30 p.m., 2- 1/2 hours after the scheduled arrival time. at sfo dan kerman, kron 4 news. >> the fog is expected to return tonight and rain. here is a live look at the golden gate bridge on the right side of the green. the bay bridge, no problems there. jacqueline bennett is tracking the fog and the rain and will tell us what is ahead. >> the fog is returning. we are seeing areas of fog through the north bay. half mile visibility in napa. 2 miles in santa rosa. down to 500 feet already. vis

so many and even dan kerman was on a flight out of san diego. he tells us how the delay impacted them. am i was scheduled on a 10-20 of virgin america with the arrival at a san francisco at noon. but i was caught up in those same delays. the monitors indicated that the flight was on time but i knew that that was not true because the version website said the appeal leaving a 12th. fun and the monitors caught up. i walked down to united. they were equally delayed. i came back with virgin america and i said is 12 noon the right time. 12 noon is one we're going to be checking in but the wheels of cannot surely break until 1:00 p.m. basically i found that the monitors are wrong most of the day and the only way to get accurate information was to speak with a human being behind the desk. we arrived at terminal no. 2 at 2:32.5 hours after the scheduled departure time. dan kerman. >> weather wise, we did have a pleasant start but tonight conditions are pretty clear. this is a live look at downtown san francisco. and if changes are underway with a series of powerful storms. i am in here with th

on the president or miss rice? >> the president is ultimately responsible. >> cnn's dan lothian first reported this morning's meeting with rice and mccain. he joins us now from the white house. dan, rice has not been nominated, not yet. how important are these meetings today? >> it's very important. republicans have been very concerned about the narrative that she put out there shortly after those benghazi attacks. they have a lot of questions and don't feel that this white house and this administration has been very transparent in the process. they have been very critical of her. as you heard the senator pount out there, it was ambassador rice who asked for these meetings. she will be accompanied by acting cia director mike morel. what's interesting is that we've seen some of the harshest criticism has been sort of toned down as we heard there from senator john mccain. from threatening to block her nomination as possible secretary of state to a willingness to hear her out, senator john mccain seems to be dialing back his public opposition to ambassador susan rice. >> i think she deserves the

. our dan lothian is watching the comings and goings at the white house. and at some point, dan, congress is going to have to either come together on this and work with the president on this, and yet we're seeing all these various different meetings all around the communities and the country. it looks like there's a particular strategy that's playing out when it comes to the president right now. >> reporter: that's right. a lot of negotiations have taken place in the staff -- on the staff level. the president himself did speak with speaker john boehner on the phone over the weekend. there was that meeting with the lawmakers, the leadership just before the president went overseas on his southeast asia trip. but so far, no additional meetings that we know of on the schedule for the president to sit down with congressional leadership to try to hammer this out. i can tell you that i spoke with an administration official who told me that treasury secretary timothy geithner will be playing a leading role in these live in negotiation negotiations -- fiscal cliff negotiations. gene spel

afternoon commissioners dan fratten with ruben and geniuses and i would like to start by reminding you what the efficiency dwelling unit legislation is, it's not a radical change it's legislation that would reduce the minimum allowable unit size by 70 square feet for a very long time, san francisco has allowed a 220 square foot minimum area for living area this makes it 750 square feet. we see from a 220 square foot units what kind of effects we might expect and they are already a part of our housing market and there is just not going to be a big change. i think a lot of the opposition to this -- excuse me this legislation is really driven by a lot of unfounded fears and a lot of prejudice about who will be live engine them this this mornings chronicle the short arch overed this rational for the cap. crash pad apartments will be for people who work in the silicon value quay who need a play place to sleep and party. new comers who come here to have fun and then hop on the google bus. i think so it's unfortunate that in 2012, we are still having debates about you know which shouldn't build

conservation. we have steve from the engineering group. we have dan -- who i see i missed. excuse me. we have dpw who did the design for the area. we have them with the living classroom and maybe it was going to be in another area but it's going to be here at the port of san francisco and had the help of a number of agencies and the parks department and keeping as gorgeous and welcoming as it is. this part was not a park for long. originally this was supposed to be a terminal and imagine if we can containers stacked around here. instead we have a place for humans to come and enjoy, dogs to come and enjoy, the children come and learn about the natural habitat about one of the areas that is best weather wise and we are proud to reinvent ourselves and use our ability to make it all better. i would like to thank the mta with their vision and the blue green way on cargo lane and of course last but not least the park of rec and park and without them we wouldn't be here today having this great celebration and i hope you come back with your dogs, with your families and picnic and enjoy yours

, there is also a dan malloy who passed major legislation earlier this year in connecticut. where there is a john king, there is also a kevin hougher in. now the lines have blurred even more. i think kevin is a democrat working for a republican governor. this is even truer in the electorate. you saw washington state, which i mentioned, georgia, approve charter schools for the first time. the voters in indiana out ofed tony bennett, voters in indianapolis approved reform minded candidates for school board who were supported by democrats for education reform. i know indianapolis is not synonymous with indiana. i grew up in chicago. but it strikes me as a complication in the traditional coalition. maybe it's urban versus suburban. it might also have to do with organization and the fact that the public may support part of the reform agenda. not other parts. some candidates but not others. so reforms have to get down deep at the ground level and fight the local battle and create broad, center based coalitions to win these fights. fourth, my class point, is that implementation is key. we've got to get
